Do You Plan to Retire? How?

Posted by Alice Seba

Tough Question TuesdayAn online business is certainly a big blessing. We can grow our income in our pajamas and set our own schedules.

But have you stopped to think about retirement? Do you really want to do EXACTLY what you do now for the rest of your life? Will you be ABLE to do what you do for the rest of your life? What happens when you’re gone and it’s time to leave something valuable to your family?

A lot of online marketers still resist outsourcing and are determined to control most, if not all, aspects of their online businesses. But this does not set you up for any type of retirement - whether you want a complete retirement or a semi-retirement.

Maybe you’re different and you have a plan.

And that’s today’s Tough Question Tuesday:  Do you plan to retire and how will you do it?

No I don’t plan on retiring. I am going for the Die Broke plan. :-)

Good, Carrie…so the kids won’t have to battle over their inheritance.

Retirement for me is not having to do work I don’t love so I want to get to a stage where I am not doing much but coaching and teaching and I will get to that stage way before retirement age. I am eventually going to outsource most of it including housework!

If I were able to do what I love and outsource what I don’t then I wouldn’t want to retire. Having said that, I do think it’s good to have a “back up plan”, if you will. It is one of the things on my list to do before I turn 30 this year.

I am probably with you, Nell. I will always want to do something, but at the same time, I will probably want long breaks…so effectively, if I want this business to keep make money, there is definitely some preparation that needs to be done.

Got something to say?
