A little while back, I interviewed one of our Outsourcing Sweetie Platinum Members about how her outsourcing experience was going. We talked about:

Her outsourcing experience prior to working with us and things she has learned along the way (these lessons are important for all of us).

Better communication and working efficiently with contractors.

How to decide what to outsource each month and keeping business rolling, even when you’re busy.

The links are asking me for to login…

The links are asking me to login in, as well.

Oh my gosh! I goofed up and am on cell phone. I will fix it in about an hour when I get home.

Check back after 2 pm PST. Very sorry about that. Should have outsourced this, so I wouldn’t goof it up. ;-)

    Alice,
This is a general question/concern rather than specific to today’s topic. Why do you and others highlight blue-colored text in red. It makes it really hard to read!

  5. Alice Seba on June 26th, 2008 1:35 pm

    Hey Linda,

I am really not sure what you mean. Could it be a browser setting if you are seeing it frequently? Which text are you talking about?

For those waiting for downloads, I’m home and working on it. Give the audio about 20 min.

    Linda,

Are you using Firefox? Sounds like you have one of the many plugins/extensions/addons that highlight no-follow links.

  7. Alice on June 27th, 2008 7:00 am

That might be it, Erin. I think some of the administrative links like “Print This Page” etc. are no follow.

I hope you’ve all found the recording helpful. It’s been great to watch Vera’s progress and see her moving ahead, full steam with the online portion of her business.

  8. Linda on June 27th, 2008 8:13 am

Yep, I was using Firefox. Thanks for clarifying!

  9. Erin on June 27th, 2008 8:33 am

Alice, I also have this setting to see nofollow, and if you can believe it, all those in the TopSpots widget are highlighted as such! Ouch.

  10. Alice Seba on June 27th, 2008 9:01 am

Oh no, definitely not ouch, Erin. The widget is done by the folks at Scratchback and the no follow protects the blog owner and link buyers from trouble with the search engines for trying to buy link pop. I wouldn’t have posted it otherwise.

  11. Erin on June 27th, 2008 10:15 am

Hmmm… I suppose that makes sense. I was thinking the buyers would want the link love. Anyway, sorry to hijack the conversation. Carry on. :)

  12. Alice on June 27th, 2008 10:33 am

    LOL…no problem..we’re mostly off-topic here. OOPS.

The links are only there until they get bumped off by new tippers anyway, so the long-term SE benefit would be minimal, even if the search engines accepted the links.

The code I put in the site is actually javascript and contains no links, so I didn’t think it would even show up as a no follow.

Great stuff Alice. it’s always handy to learn “first hand” someones experience.

Got something to say?
