Sales Page Critique: Watch & Read

Posted by Alice Seba

Sales Page CritiqueSince the release of the sales page template and checklist was so well-received over the weekend, I thought you might also like this. It’s a sales page critique I recently did for a student.

And although, it’s specifically about her sales page, it covers a lot of suggestions that could be applied to your sales pages as well.

The critique comes in two formats, so you can digest it in a way that works best for you.

Hi Alice, I’m one of the owners of the Pay Debt Quickly site and I loved your critique of it. Stay tuned for an updated version!

    Thanks so much.

Glad it’s helpful, Cindy. You’re product sounds very interesting and likely what a lot of people need!

Looking forward to seeing the update.

    Hi Alice, ;-)
I enjoyed your Sales Page Critique.

The letter as it was, was interesting, but not compelling. If it’s not compelling, then I can certainly think about it, but in that “thinking about it” phase, there are dozens of thoughts that can distract me.

The letter should be much stronger once some of the suggested changes are made.

I would love to see critiques as a regular part of your website…(maybe once a week…hint, hint ;-p ) Besides helping others, I think it would also be great to draw in people to your website.

If you did it weekly for several months, by then you’d have the makings of a separate site on how to improve your web site copy, and you’d have it well stocked with critiques ;-)
    Just a thought …

    Warmly
    Rick

Thank you, Rick. Trying to put me to work, are you? i do them now and then, but for a regular thing, it’s not likely in the schedule. They do take quite a bit of time and preparation.

Of course , those who want their own private critiques, I will be doing them during the IMCoppyMakeover.com and there a pre-made ones at CopywritingSweetie.com. :-)

Great tips Alice! She should test logo vs. no logo among things. I personally find no problem with the logo being up on any of my sites in the sales letters.

I find that people don’t get distracted with the logo. I think as long as there are no other distractions on the sales page you are okay (i.e., links pointing to other places in the site that take away from the buying process.) I think that it comes down to a personal preference whether or not to include a logo and what you are trying to achieve as far as branding.

But definitely keep the unimportant stuff at the way bottom of the sales page or don’t add it to the sales page at all. And, I agree, you should have the sales page separate from the order page. Good advice. :-)

I have no problem with logos, but my suggestion was that this one wasn’t necessarily relevant to the product. Therefore *could* distract from the page’s.

The positioning of this small logo also takes up a considerable amount of above the fold space. I think you can promote your brand while keeping focus on the product by adjusting the positioning of the logo and customizing logos to compliment the particular product.

But you’re right. It’s something that can be tested. Nothing in the critique was to be taken as an absolute.

Yes, no absolutes. :-) I agree with Rick. You should do this more often.

    Blessings,

    Lisa

Do you only critique through IMCM or do you do it separately if someone just asks or what?
