Myth: Only Big Companies Get Media Publicity

Myth Crusher MondayYou probably know that press releases can be a good way to get extra exposure for your online business. The typical internet marketers plan includes writing a press release and submitting it to PRWeb.com and other online newswires for the incoming links and hopefully extra exposure.

Traditional Media Wants You!

But did you know that it’s really not that hard to get traditional media (you know, newspapers, TV stations, magazines, etc.) to pay attention to what you have to share? And the best part is, It doesn’t require big budget resources or a degree in rocket science.

Just like webmasters who are in need of content, traditional media is ALWAYS on the lookout for good stories. And your local media is a great place to start because they love great local stories. I don’t know why, but many online business owners take the time to write a press release, but they can’t be bothered to spend a bit of time creating a local media distribution list.

It’s something I’ve been teaching with my press release course for several years and it’s amazing to see the results when people just put in a bit of effort. Sure, you probably won’t end up on the Oprah Winfrey show, but you can get the results you’re looking for with just a little concentrated effort.
