Where Should I Sell My Santa Letters?

You’re ready to start processing orders. But, before you settle down and rest, you still have some marketing to do. Even though there is a huge demand for Santa Letters this time of year, you still have to make it easy for people to find you and get a buzz about your service.

You have three basic options for selling your letters:

Sell them on auction sites like eBay

Why not? This time of year everyone is shopping at eBay. Not only that, but they are searching for keywords like “Santa” and “Christmas” so your letter service stands a good chance of getting exposure. Of course, you’ll want to position yourself to get as many visitors as possible to your auction. You’ll also want to encourage referrals to increase sales.

Create a website where you can sell your letters year-round

This is, of course, another option for selling your Santa Letters. If this is too intimidating to you, there are easy site builder options that you can utilize that make creating a website as easy as creating a Word Document.

Sell the Letters offline via Order Forms

This a great alternative to creating a website. Create order forms and deliver them to local preschools and daycares. If you’re business-savvy you may even consider running your offer as a fundraiser to encourage the preschools to recommend the Santa Letters even more.

Each of these methods has benefits, and they don’t have to be mutually exclusive. You can do all three set up an online store, sell on eBay, and do a fundraiser at your child’s school by sending home order forms! Why not? Have a wonderful, and profitable Holiday Season!

How To Write Compelling Web Copy

Q. Can you offer some advice for writing compelling web copy?


A. Compelling web copy has many business building benefits. It can keep your visitors glued to your site, cause them to become repeat visitors, generate traffic & increase your search engine ranking, and of course, it sells! There are lots of ways to make your web copy compelling but let’s look at five:

1. Conversations. Talk to your readers. How do you talk? When you speak do you use contractions? Do you use colloquialisms? Write like you talk and you’ll make a better connection with your readers.

2. Active words. Do you want to compel your readers to act or command them to act? Do you want your readers to benefit from your product or do you want it to change their life? Words have power. Find specific active verbs to paint your copy, to make it exciting and lively.

3. Benefit oriented. Typically speaking, readers don’t care about you. Nor do they care about your product’s features. What they care about is how they will benefit from your product. So make sure you sell benefits not features.

4. Language. Remember when writing your copy that you are writing for everday folks. Using large, technical words that are confusing will run your audience off because they won’t know what you’re talking about. Use words that people are familiar with and can connect to.

5. Emotions. We all want to feel smarter, richer, happier, thinner, more respected, etc. Use these emotions and emotional needs to connect with your reader. For example, “Do you feel paralyzed every time you have to go shopping? Do you hate trying on clothes? Does stepping in front of that three way mirror strike fear inside you?”

How To Make Attention Getting Headlines

Q. Can you offer some pointers to making attention grabbing headlines?

A. The trick to writing anything whether it is a sales page or a how to article is to hook your reader’s attention immediately. Of course you have to hold on to that attention too but that’s significantly easier once you already have it.

Headlines are one of the most important parts of copywriting. Let’s look at things that can make a compelling headline:

* A promise. Lose 30 pounds in 30 days-guaranteed.

* Make it newsworthy. New diet guarantees fast, healthy weight loss.

* Ask a question. Are the foods you eat making you sick?

* Offer a benefit full of emotion. You’re going to absolutely love your new body - guaranteed!

* Appeal to their self interest. Know the secret to losing weight permanently?

* Offer value. 3 easy steps to losing weight naturally.

* Headlines must use strong verbs and powerful words. Compare these two headlines:

- Lose weight with our enzyme based diet

- Weight literally falls off with enzyme based diet

How do each of these make you feel? Would one cause you to purchase quicker than the other?

Writing effective, eye-catching headlines takes practice. Make a point to examine headlines written by newspapers, magazines, and successful online marketers. Take note of what & how they write, how it makes you feel and what works and what doesn’t. Once you’re ready to begin, try using one type of headline, test it for a while then switch to something else and see if that works better. Testing and tracking is a great way to determine what works best for your particular followers.
