Can I Use Articles for Product Launches?
Q: How can articles be used as part of a product launch? Are there different strategies for different type of products, i.e. e-books, physical products, or launching a content website?
Jeff has been the man behind the scenes for a number of large product launches – including those of John Reese, Frank Kern, Yanik Silver. He also lent his expertise to Jason Potash’s launch of Article Announcer itself. I’ve been fortunate enough to attend one of Jeff’s product launch courses and when I put his instructions into action – the results were definitely financially rewarding!
Here’s some information Jeff emailed to me:
“The best product launches hit key psychological triggers in
your target market. I don’t have space to go into all of
them in this email, but some of the triggers are scarcity,
social proof, anticipation, and turning your launch into an
event. Launching a product gives you a unique time to take
advantage of these triggers. Actually, you can get almost
the same effect from RE-LAUNCHING a product… but that is a
different story for a different time.
a event’. People love big events… and they can easily get
carried away by them. It is almost like you are creating a
soap opera… you let your launch play out over time, with
the “tension” slowly building. You gradually release more
information about your new product… but you never tell the
entire story until launch day. Think about how a soap opera
always leaves you hanging…
They want to know what’s coming. And when they are eagerly
looking for what’s coming, they are reading your stuff. And they are
absorbing your sales message. And often, by the time you
launch your product, they are ready to buy… even before
they see your sales letter.
focus on using the articles to grow your opt-in list. Once
you have folks on your list, they are your mercy whenever
you want to launch a new product.
carpets getting old? Time for a product launch. You get the
idea.
this works just as well for promoting OTHER people’s
products.”
So, from Jeff’s point of view, using articles to build that LIST is of key importance and I’d have to agree with him. That list is yours to keep and it continues to grow (as long as you work at it). Writing and distributing articles can help you build a list relatively quickly and Jason covers how to do this extensively in his Article Announcer course.
Outside of that, using content and articles that “on-topic” for your new product is a terrific way to start generating interest in your products. You can write an article that shows people how to address a problem they might be having – and your product will be the ultimate solution. You can share this article with your subscribers and distribute for publication elsewhere…but ultimately, you want to build that list so you can promote relevant products to them over and over again.
As far as using different strategies for different kinds of products, I don’t think there is one blanket answer. What you write about and where you distribute the article will certainly depend on your product and the “problem” it solves for the consumer.
If you’re one of my Article Announcer students, we can always brainstorm specific article topics that would be suitable for your product launch. In addition, I’ve heard it through the grapevine that Jeff Walker will be releasing a detailed course on orchestrating your own product launches.
