Q: Everyone talks about using WordTracker for SEO but I’m confused. Can you explain how to use it?

A: Here are the steps you will need to follow in using WordTracker:

1. Enter a keyword that you would like to research. For example, if your site is about home schooling, you can enter that term.

2. When related keywords appear, they will be on the left side. Click on one of them to get further keyword results. For instance, if the term, “home school lessons” appear on the left side, you can click on that to get further results. When you click on the terms on the right hand side, you are adding them to your basket which you can edit later. The terms you add to your basket are the terms you will actually get the WordTracker results for.

3. When you have finished choosing your terms, you can continue to step 4.

4. This is where results show up. The first column contains the keyword that you chose. The next column will show the Keyword Effectiveness Index. This will tell you if WordTracker feels this is a good keyword to use. The higher the score, the better the word is. The next column in the results page will display the count, or number of times that word comes up in the WordTracker database. The next column will show you the estimate for how many times that word will be searched on in the next 24 hours. The last column shows how many competing pages there are for that particular keyword.

Remember-your best results will be keywords that are searched for a lot, without very many competing pages. It may take a while to narrow down a keyword that fits that category but with some time and effort, you can do so successfully.
