How Do I Get Traffic to Sites in Multiple Niches?

Q: Hello Alice. I have a question. The main business I’m interested in is creating multiple small niche sites, mini sites I guess they are called, that sell products that have nothing to do with Internet marketing.

My question is: How do you get search engine traffic to small sites, say a maximum of ten pages? I’ve thought about ezine ads but many small niches don’t have a great number of ezines available. The only other method I can see is PPC (pay per click), which means Adwords, and that can get pricey very fast. Thanks, Alex

A: It’s tough to generate good search engine traffic. If you create one small site in one niche and then move to another site, you’ll have a harder road ahead of you than if you concentrate on a particular market. You’ll have to spend more time and money building links. If you create websites in related niches, you can link them together and you can focus your efforts on a particular type of prospect.

If you’re trying to get golfers to your golfing site and horse lovers to your horse site, you’ve doubled your work. But if you create one golfing site that teaches people to improve their swing, another site to improve their putting and yet another that provides product reviews of golf equipment, it’s much easier.

Here’s a Few Reasons Why:

- As I mentioned, it’s easier to link your sites and generate extra traffic.

- The extra links can help you with search engines, just try to keep the links going one way in your network (instead of crosslinking back and forth between each site), so they will be seen as more valuable by search engines.

- You establish your network of websites as the go-to place for golf information, for example.

- As you build your mailing list, you will have way more resources to point them to, increasing your opportunities to profit off that list.

Sure, you can start a PPC campaign to drive traffic to all your different topic sites, but why wouldn’t you start a PPC campaign that benefits your whole network of sites instead?
