Q: Dear Alice. I am an English teacher in Istanbul Turkey. I also teach Turkish to foreigners. I have a website, but I cannot reach any real customers although I get 5 or six visitors a day. My concern is limited to the targets in Istanbul. Please give me some advice.

A: You are currently trying to market a service to a local area. To generate more publicity for your service, I’d recommend you start focusing more on offline efforts. You can write press release (see my Press Release Profits course for more information), purchase advertising or get in touch with companies that would reach your target market. You can offer referral fees to any company that sends a client your way.

But, for your online efforts, why limit yourself to Istanbul? Obviously, you can’t travel the world to teach people English and Turkish, but you can create informative information products that people can use in their own home. You can write grammar ebooks and create mp3s for people to study themselves. You can even hold group teleseminars where you instruct your students via telephone.

You see, right now, you’re concentrating on providing a service and I’m guessing that you get paid hourly. Once the work is done, you don’t get paid again, until you get a new clients. If you take your knowledge and create information products, you can get paid for your skills and talents over and over again.
