Some companies offer a wealth of information, technology, templates, marketing material and even resources to their consultants while others leave consultants to make the business what they want and need it to be.

Use the supplies they provide/recommend. Most often when a direct sales consultant signs on to represent a company, they are provided a starter kit. This starter kit may contain a small amount of sample products or it may be a very large kit with an abundance of products. These products are designed to help you become acquainted with the products you’re going to be representing and selling. Use them to that end. You can use these products for demonstrations as well as educational purposes.
Use the hostess gifts they provide/recommend.
Some direct sales companies offer a very structured hostess coaching and incentive program while others again let the direct sales consultant create a coaching and incentive program that works best for them. Use the coaching materials that your company provides. Presumably they’ve done their research and they have a history of success with their coaching and incentives.
That being said, if you find that some of their materials are not working for you, then revise the program to fit y our needs. However don’t hesitate to tell the direct sales company what works, what doesn’t and the solution you found. They can use your experience and advice to tweak the program and make it more effective.
Use the marketing supplies they provide recommend. Marketing supplies can be the most expensive to create and the most difficult to produce effectively. Use your company’s marketing supplies to the maximum of your ability. Brochures, invitations, flyers, catalogs, scripts, thank you cards, business cards and even direct mail pieces can all be used to help build your business successfully.
Technology they provide/recommend. Many direct sales companies have embraced the power of technology and now offer website hosting, templates, graphics, links, buttons and even shopping cart systems so you can set up your very own business website with very little effort. Of course each company is different. Use the technology resources and aids your company provides to make your job as easy as possible.
Finally, some direct sales companies may offer discounts and resources which will help you save money and build your business, for example discounts on insurance, office supplies, printing and more can all help. Make your direct sales company work for you and you’ll be that much closer to building the business you desire.
