Why Talk About “Relationships” When I Want to Sell Stuff?
Q: Hello, I need some more information. I am not looking for a place to create a website as I have already one. I am a distributor for an internationale wellness company and I would like to be able to chat about my inner and outer nutritions products with potential customers. All the time i am on the chat site it is always about finding relationships and never about business. Can I find that with you?

A: Hi Virginie. I can certainly understand wanting to get right to it and selling your product, but I want to reassure you that the relationship building will take you further in the long run than sitting in a chat room talking about your products or business opportunity. It’s definitely worth the effort!
But to answer your question, yes, you can run chats where you are allowed to talk about your products and opportunity. You can schedule a business chat or a online sales party at my website, InternetBasedMoms.com. But the cold-hard reality is that it will be tough fill up your room and get people interested if you haven’t already nurtured the relationships.
You see, not everyone online is your potential customer – but they are your potential friend, business partner or teacher. If you try to sell to everyone you meet, soon everyone will be running the other way, unfortunately. People don’t like to be sold to, but they do like to support their friends in business…that’s for sure.
People you meet online can:
- share their special marketing skills with you, so you learn how to market yourself online better.
- tell potential customers about you – this can be their friends, website visitors, email list, etc.
- connect you with other people who will be influential in your business.
And once you start making these connections, it really snowballs.
