Thanks for responding Alice and Wendy! :)

Yes, mixing up original with PLR content makes perfect sense. It's definitely a key ingredient in using PLR content on your sites effectively.

Hi Sarah and David,

I agree with Alice's comment. If you're using only unedited PLR as content for your site, then it will likely suffer with the search engines.

I've been mixing up original content and PLR on my sites for several years as well and haven't been penalized.

Actually, I did a test with one site using only unedited PLR articles in one niche to see what would happen and that particular site remained dormant as far as traffic from search engines was concerned.

I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to

say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.

Hi Sarah, I'll let Wendy know that you had a question for her, but I can probably offer some insight too.

Sites do just fine with a combination of original and reprinted/PLR content. Plus, you can edit the PLR if you do have concerns or just want to reshape the message for your readers.

In all the years of people spreading duplicate content fears, I've yet to see anyone penalized for having articles on their site that were published elsewhere. The search engines may choose to ignore those particular pages, but it's unlikely you'd actually be penalized.

Penalties are more likely to come in when you base sites solely on unedited reprinted content...but mixing it up isn't likely to hurt you.

I agree with Sarah. Using PLR for reports or as part of an info product is one thing. But, blogging it is just lazy blogging. Aside from search engines seeing the duplicate content, as soon as a reader realizes your content comes from someplace else, your reputation will suffer.

I don't recommend PLR for blogging, and this coming from a person who blogs for a living.

Just my two cents.

Thanks for the great article Wendy! Re suggestion #1, wouldn't adding PLR content to your website have the ability to hurt you due to duplicate content issues? It can be that the PLR article you're publishing have been published before right?

Hi Wendy,
Wonderful article. PLR is great stuff!

I especially liked what you said in #1 about adding PLR as content to your website with a PURPOSE. There are easy ways to monetize an article when you give it some thought before hand.

Thanks,
Peggy
