How To Create Something Unique From PLR eBooks

Buying private label rights ebooks can be a great way to add to your income. When you purchase private label rights material, also known as PLR, you are buying the rights to put your own name on the content and sell it to other people.

Of course, you can also post the content on your website or blog as well as give it away to subscribers of your mailing list, but why not use it to create your own unique information products?

Here are some tips you can use:

Use the PLR ebook as a starting point, not a finished product. Edit the text to give it your unique tone or add to it in order to make it a longer ebook. You can also get rid of the formatting the PLR writer used and use your own choice of headings, fonts, and pictures.

By interviewing experts and including them as bonuses, you will increase the value of the ebook. Have you ever been to a cosmetics counter when they were offering a special bonus with the purchase of $25 in products?

People who had no intention of buying any cosmetics find a way to spend $25 in order to get the freebie. Offer your customers a bonus audio with their purchase and they will be lining up to buy your ebook.

Just because the PLR was written in book form doesn’t mean you have to use it that way. Break it up and form a couple of special reports that you can sell for under $10 each. Sometimes, you can make more money by selling a lot of smaller priced items than you could make selling a few larger priced items.

If you have bought PLR from several different websites on a similar topic, combine them to form one large ebook.

You can also combine several of these strategies together in order to create a really great information product. Just remember to think about your target market and what they would find helpful or useful. Remember, you can create the best information product on the web, but if won’t make you any money if your target market doesn’t want to purchase it.

  • I have a question. When you use PLR articles how do you get by
being penalized by search engines for using duplicate content?
Because they usually sell the same PLR articles to several different people and if all of them post them wont the search engines frown on that and possibly penalize you for posting duplicate content?
I would love to use them but have been afraid to for this reason
    Am i wrong?

  • Hi Scott,

I’ve been mixing up unedited PLR and original content on my sites for several years now and have not experienced any penalties from the search engines. They may ignore some of the pages that include the unedited PLR content, but overall you will likely be fine.

However, if your website is “only” using unedited PLR content, then the possibility of being penalized by the SE’s could happen.

Thanks for your post. I have just bought Lynn Terry’s e book on product creation and marketing by JV. That got me researching PLR opportunities. Now having read your post the light is getting somewhat brighter… Thanks!
